Overview
Transurethral microwave thermotherapy is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure for patients with an enlarged prostate. Specialized catheter is introduced into the urethra (prostatic urethra) and microwave energy is delivered to prostate tissue. Microwave treated prostate will lead to decreased obstruction of urethra and, ultimately, improve urinary symptoms.
How to prepare for the procedure
A transurethral microwave thermotherapy is performed at our office and under local anesthesia. For the complete list of instructions click here.
